STRASSBURGER & Co. is a new denim brand launched by Nosawa & Co., Ltd. , a textile trading company with a 150-year history.As a creator trusted for our quality, having refined our skills and intuition over generations, we have engraved our own name onto these jeans—this is the denim of STRASSBURGER & Co.
In the 1970s, when denim culture first began to take root in Japan—a pivotal era that marked the very beginning—we have consistently manufactured jeans for countless brands both at home and abroad.
Every single piece is the crystallization of experience accumulated as a nameless craft team. Now, we pour all of that technique and expertise under the name of our very own brand, “STRASSBURGER & Co.”

The brand name
“STRASSBURGER & Co.”
was bestowed with deep gratitude and respect for “Strassburger & Co.,” an American textile trading firm that built a profound relationship of trust throughout Nosawa & Co., Ltd.’s 150-year journey, and for its founder, Mr. Strassburger.
Strassburger & Co. was a vital business partner in America, maintaining a trade relationship with Nosawa & Co., Ltd. since before World War II.However, the war changed everything; due to the postwar chaos and airstrikes across various regions, Nosawa & Co., Ltd. suffered devastating blows, pushing the company to a point where its very survival was in jeopardy.
Amid such despair, the words from Mr. Strassburger arrived:
“I will buy all the silk fabrics in Japan. Gather the Japanese silk by any means necessary.”
This provided a massive ray of hope for Nosawa & Co., Ltd. to restart its business.Furthermore, his dedication to our recovery, which included lobbying the GHQ on our behalf, went far beyond the boundaries of a mere business partner.
Having no successor of his own, Mr. Strassburger entrusted the business and the spirit that Strassburger & Co. had built to Nosawa & Co., Ltd.Today, the business once operated by Strassburger & Co. in New York is carried on as “Nosawa New York Inc.,” continuing to etch its history into the present day.
Embodied within this brand name is our gratitude for that foundational kindness, along with a story of trust and heritage built across generations and borders.And it is our deepest hope that these jeans, born in Japan, will cross the ocean once more to be worn on the very soil of New York, where Strassburger & Co. once stood.
This is not only a tribute to our past, but also a declaration of our commitment to craftsmanship that leads into the future.With the name of the partner who shared our vision held close to our hearts, STRASSBURGER & Co. will continue to pursue honest and dedicated craftsmanship.
